Credit(s) for Africa is a Dutch foundation that seeks to support enterprising people in Africa in starting their own businesses.
The foundation was established after a number of visits and meetings in Ghana. Not only did we find a lot of idealism and entrepreneurial spirit, but also the burden of limited availability of resources and knowledge.
As we believe it is important to be able to earn your own livelihood, we want to support people in achieving that. Without seeking any profit, we provide micro-credits to entrepreneurs and preferably to entrepreneurs who not only aim to improve their own, but also other people's, circumstances. They are truly social entrepreneurs.
We want to work with people and organisations already active in Ghana, because we think it is important to connect with local needs. These people help us in assessing whether granting credits in specific circumstances can be expected to contribute to sustainable economic and social development. They can also answer the question if sufficient local knowledge and expertise are available to develop the company into a successful enterprise. Should this turn out to be a problem, we would like to offer our support in finding a solution.
'Credits', after all, is not only about money, but also about prestige, influence, trust and reputation. We want to co-operate with people in Africa in order to learn from each other on an equal footing and based on mutual trust.
We cordially invite you to respond if you have any questions or, in whatever way, if you feel you can contribute to the development of people in Africa.
We'd like to thank you for your attention.
